Megan + Steve Engagement – Ithaca, NY

If you’ve been following my blogs you’ll know that I’ve been struggling to contain myself in terms of over sharing picture wise. I generally try to keep it under 100 but it’s usually double that when I’m blogging. I just can’t help myself.

When I return wedding or engagement portraits to my clients I generally return anywhere from 750-1500 weddings and right around 100 for engagement sessions. It’s A LOT to choose from.

HOWEVER! This engagement session I went a little bonkers and Megan and Steve are getting back a whopping 227 photos.

We decided to meet at Cornell’s botanical gardens in Ithaca, NY at sunset which was the complete opposite of our original plan to meet at one of the “gorges” waterfalls early in the morning. That plan got rained out like half of my shoots this last summer. I always feel terrible rescheduling even when I know it’s not my fault and that it’s in the best interest of my clients.

With that said, this photoshoot is a true testament as to why it’s so important to make those calls. I am in love with these photos and the lighting and area was so beautiful that I took a TON of shots.

Megan and Steve are also super easy to work with. They gave me the classic line of “We don’t really know what we’re doing” which 99% of the time equates to we’re going to have a great shoot. And we did. We explored the expansive Cornell gardens and took full advantage of that beautiful sunset lighting.

These are just a FEW of my most favorites.

As the sun set lower and lower we had to return back to the main garden. I LOVE, love, love this golden light and all the contrast it brings to these engagement portraits. The botanical gardens at Cornell have such a variety of flowers and plant life. It’s hard to choose which will be used for those classic ring detail shots. I love the fact that Megan’s ring is an emerald. It fit right in for our garden themed engagement session.I had to include the bee shot. Unfortunately the lighting was so low that I was working at a lower shutter speed and he’s not as crystal clear as I would have liked but STILL COOL! Bees are important guys. 🙂I love that we can go from what looks like a garden out of London to something that looks more tropical all in the same space. Also, THIS WALL! This has to be new because I don’t remember seeing this in the recent past.I had such a great time working with Megan and Steve. I absolutely love shooting weddings and engagements in the Ithaca and Fingerlakes area. It is such a beautiful place to be. Especially Cornell’s botanical gardens. I’m in awe of the beautiful plant life here and love visiting even when it’s not for portraits.

Megan + Steve are getting married next July in Ithaca and I can’t wait to spend this day with them.

Stay tuned!
