Laura and Pat met me at Catherine Valley Winery in the Fingerlakes area. Catherine Valley Winery is in Hector, NY, a tiny and charming little town bordering the gorgeous Seneca Lake. I was already excited to create here because I had never been to this particular winery but when I caught a glimpse of Seneca Lake on my drive there, my anticipation went through the roof!
I arrived at the winery a little early. Being the only one there, I was able to scout the grounds a bit and take in the sights. What an incredibly stunning place! I later spoke with the owner and told him what a beautiful spot he had and that I was tempted to come back with a good book and lounge on the porch with a nice glass of wine. He responded “People do that!” He was so welcoming and kind and the ambiance of Catherine Valley winery just can’t be beat. It is definitely a place I will return to purely for the views, good wine and relaxing ambiance.
See for yourself!
Isn’t it perfect?
Laura and Pat soon arrived and they were just as impressed with the scenery. While they were taking it all in, I took some shots of Laura’s engagement ring. Engagement ring shots are some of my most favorite shots to do.
We set off and explored the vineyard for a bit. Check out these gorgeous shots among the grapes!
Catherine Valley winery also has a couple of winery dogs! I didn’t actually learn their names but this adorable fur baby followed us around on our entire adventure. At one point he scared some turkeys out of the woods which was great fun for all! Especially the turkeys. I swear, I am always photobombed by animals or some sort of wildlife and I love it. It makes me feel like the Disney Princess of photographers.
Laura and Pat were so great to work with. They had such chemistry and were so easy to photograph. When I asked them how they had met they shared that they had met on a dating site (which is seriously how at least half of my clients meet!). Laura said her friend had met their significant other this way so she thought she would give it a try. Pat was the first to message her (fate much?) and she said his message was well written and really nice. They talked for 2-3 weeks and finally met at Barnes & Noble for some coffee. They immediately hit it off and were inseparable from that point on.
Pat said he knew Laura was the one because she puts up with all his “crap” and enjoys his puns…or at least pretends to think their funny.
Laura said she knew Pat was the one because there were so many reasons (I always love answers like that. Swoon!) and because he was so giving. “He’s always looking out for other people and is very helpful.”
After being together for 5 years, Pat proposed by waking Laura up with a fancy breakfast of strawberries, champagne and a stunning engagement ring. On October 14th, these two tie the knot at Barnes Barn in Brookfield, NY and I am so excited to document this special day for them!
